I'm curious if any of you have regional observations on approximate fee for leasing 80 acres for three months to four hunters. I just charged $750 for such an arrangement. Any comments on about what such a situation would warrant for a fee in their particular region?
I am unaware of anyone leasing land for hunting in Ohio. I AM interested in seeing what rates run elsewhere (here too, for that matter, if I'm uniformed).
We were offered $10 per acre plus a large liability coverage policy, so your price seems in line.
$10/acre seems about right...but 4 guns/hunters on 80 acres? are we talking about deer hunting?
Depending on a lot of factors, hunting leases in Texas go for $10 to $20 per acre. In the big deer country of South Texas, the sky is the limit. Most of that stuff is corporate leases that are way out of reach for the average or even fairly well heeled guy. We're talking $2,500 per weekend per hunter.
For bird hunting four would be good for deer hunting that seems really small and dangerous. I am one of the few lucky ones left with a south Texas lease but will be priced out when our lease is over. Places around us are paying $7500.00 per buck.
Wow, $7,500 per buck. It has really gone up since the last time I decided I couldn't afford it.
In Georgia it has gone from $6 an acre to $10-$12 an acre over the last few years with alot of clubs losing long term leases with major timber companies selling off or putting old leases up to the highest bidder.
Lbuck is this bow hunting? If so 4 hunters ok, about right on price. 5 of us leased 200 acres in MO for $1,200. We never had more than 3 hunting at a time.
Bill, I have clients pay up to $20/acre for deer/turkey rights in prime deer counties.
Sorry about that...I'm talkin' about pheasant hunting. I guess I'd probably lease for deer at a similar rate.
Now that is funny, Pheasants ! No offense LBUCK, I would love to go on a Pheasant hunt...but those Deer hunters get really excited this time of year.
It's funny to imagine Greg & friends with a bow, hunting Pheasants ! No wonder he spaces out 3 hunters on 200 acres ! hahahaha.
Actually for 4 hunters, 80 acres for a few months seems really small. I could hunt that out in a few days by myself and the dog. So your price seems really good that you got. Don't forget the liability coverage for covering your own butt.
I offered my 43 acres of prime deer and turkey habitat (no fishing though) at roughly $19/ac and got plenty of takers.
