I was curious how much it cost to stock a pond. Mine is about 3/4 of an acre. I would be interested in bass, bream, catfish. I know the costs wouldn't be universal across the country. Just curious as to how much people on here spend for the amount they put in.

I haven't done it for a couple of years but I paid:

bluegill 2 to three inch-35 cents each
catfish 4 to 6 inch-50 cents each
bass are dependent on size

You also need fathead minnows. I usually pay about $8.00 per pound. They usually run about 350 per pound

Stocking a 3/4 acre pond should cost around $300-350.00, max, if you are stocking fingerlings.

I got 800 Bluegills, 200 Shellcrackers, and 100 Bass from the Alabama fisheries dept. They were free! Bought 5 Grass Carp and soon to be the proud new owner of 15 pounds of Tilapia. If your pond contains no fish the Alabama Fisheries Dept. will supply you with fish. So far in life thats the best I've seen as far as my tax dollars at work... :p

I just bought 600, 3/4 inch fish, 200 Nile Tilapia, 200 red Tilapia and 200 Rohu, all from the government for 1/2 cent a piece. Previous to this, I bought 200 1 1/2 inch fish from them and they ran a penny a piece, you are right your tax dollar at work, in my case, however, you get what you pay for there were assorted unknown fish in the mix.
The commercial dealers charge 7.5 to 12.5 cents per 1 1/2 inch fish, depending on the species, but offer a much wider range of fish.
