How long do HSB live for? I've stocked 50 of them back in 2016. They are definitely alive and well but how many years before they start dropping off to where I need to replenish them?

I'd restock some every two years to mimic nature's recruitment as close as possible. You don't need to stock many, maybe 5-10, based somewhat on your harvest plan. To answer your question, I've seen them live 10-12 years so far, with some pushing on beyond 12.

I believe mine in Nebraska live well past 10 years.

Interesting to read. Nice to know they live that long. As they get older and bigger I feel bad about harvesting them lol. I feel like i'm heavily invested time wise so may as well let them live
