And here I thought this was going to be a thread warning those states of your impending travel plans! grin

We have a strong cell bearing down on us..... Thunder is rumbling more and more.

That is the next thread Todd...Tornado went over the top of me while I was starting my Generator and touched down about a quarter mile away. Being alright now, I can say it was an awesomely powerful sight!!!

Glad to hear your doing good rainman. We have been watching the weather and its looks pretty rough according to the radar images.

Two super cells merged over the STL Metro area fro the first time in 35+ years....That double whammy and a third super cell are tracking east over Interstate 70 at about 75mph...grab your butts on this one...it's the first time I've taken cover as long as I've lived in tornado alley.

Bing It is heading straight for you buddy!

Seems to have passed to the North of us, hope Mongo and Mrs. Mongo are OK.

The damage to the St. Louis Airport is staggering. You will see it on national news tomorrow.

Last night I was in that terminal at this time.

Glad all is well there Fred!!! Like you, I hope it stay's that way at the Sefton's as well!!!

All the damage at Rose Acres and and Diane Marie is less than a quarter mile from us. The tornado had to be dropping directly over our home just before touching down. It ripped a good path through Maryland Heights where I am, Bridgeton, St, Ann and fizzled out as it hit the Airport. First time since 1982 the airport has suspended operations. Lots more tornado's hit on the Illinois side of the river but no video on the news yet.

Tornadoes everywhere this past week it seems...

We've been pretty lucky in northern Indiana as it's been too cold for tornadoes. We've actually had some thunderstorms with temps in the upper 30's to lower 40's. That may all change next week as temps finally rise and heavy rain is in the forecast.

We all got in the basement the other day not sure if it was Tuesday or Wednesdays batch of tornadoes.. The way they were talking on the radio tonight was gonna be worse but by the time it got here (50-60 miles from rainman) it totally petered out but I don't think they were quite aware of that on the news because it wasn't nearly as bad as the other night (in my area anyways, it was worse in the at Louis area though this time) Rainman you know the house the keep showing on the news on forestell Rd. That's my uncles neighbor he said it left a path trashing about 20-30 homes and he was literally a 1/8 from that demolished house and had no damage.. That's the same storm that did all the airports damage.. On a side note the storms the other night did the same thing and merged just south of my property and dumped a**loads of golfball size hail.. BEEN A CRAZY TORNADO SEASON SO FAR..

Also my sister lives in breese IL they had a confirmed tornado one mile north and multiple "rainwater" tornadoes just south. She was dead in the middle of 2 big wall clouds that were supposedly going to merge south of effinghame area but they also kind of festered out.. So seems like it was bad, bit very close to be horrible for alot more people I think even though we had a few tornadoes and lots of damage, we really lucked out this time..

Glad you all are OK.

Tornadoes are pretty rare around here. The first, last and only time I ever experienced a tornado was 45 years ago, and that only took a few shingles off the roof.

We get some pretty good thunderstorms with wind and lightning.

One thing on the rise around here is straight line winds. No warning with these and are very destructive.

My first corn crop in my garden got hit by a down burst. It was like a giant hand came down and flattened it all out. It was doing good too. Nothing else was touched, it just leveled out the corn.

JKB, I was thru the same batch of tornados but I was less than 1/8 mile from where one started. Luckily there wasn't much damage to the house, but if my Mom hadn't grabbed my little sister from the bed she would have been hit by a 2x4 that came thru the bedroom window. We lost the screened in gazebo, some more damage to the house and lost a lot of mature Oak Trees.

Coming thru the southern part of Mo. and Ill a few days ago I saw a lot of damage - even whole center pivot irrigation systems toppled over.

I just saw my Live Haul truck on FOX News in a helicopter fly over view...looked like a huge tree had landed on it and all the routes to get there are shut down so I can't see if it is actually totaled or if it was just the camera angle. A large warehouse beside the storage lot I park it in and the parking lot side of the building caved in.

Anyone have rental Live-Haul trucks????

It might be a blessing in disguise if you have enough insurance on it........
Posted By: Rainman Re: Watch out Illinois and Indiana - 04/23/11 04:11 PM
uhhh...not if I can't deliver the 6000+ pounds of tilapia ordered for delivery in the next two weeks!!!

I was supposed to leave tomorrow on a run.

Posted By: esshup Re: Watch out Illinois and Indiana - 04/23/11 05:35 PM
Let us know when you find out! Hopefully it's just the camera angle.

It took an hour via interstate highway to drive the 6 miles to my truck..which was very near what is now called ground zero....the devastation is incredible and early estimates are 1 Billion in damages.

My truck was damaged but is still drivable as soon as the glass gets replaced...pictures to come.

When I first pulled into the lot, there was a huge empty spot about 40 feet wide where my truck, a huge RV and a brand new big pontoon boat USED to be parked..The pontoon boat was on it's side thrown west and my truck was supporting a 30 foot FRP sided Travel Trailer that was on it's side, ON TOP of a 24 foot Pop-up camper...The trees I park under were blown onto the Interstate just beyond the fence where I park...looked like the center of the tornado went between my truck and the pontoon boat...my truck weighs 24,212 pounds ans was slid on gravel about 6 feet sideways.

Damn truck is about as hard to kill as me! grin grin

Early phone pics....

Glad your alright Rex! I had no idea this stuff was even going on. It rained a bunch with some wind and lightning, but I am pretty oblivious to anything happening in the news these days.

Rex glad your alright. Hopefully the truck will be fixed soon enough to still make your fish runs in time. My house in KY was flooded again.
