My pond has leaked for the past few years. It has a very sandy bottom. My pond builder said that he put plenty of clay on the bottom and it shouldn't leak. It will leak down to a level and stop. It does have a wet spot below the levy, then it will dry up. I have a friend that said he could have over twenty four wheelers over to run the middle slop and the side to pack these areas. My question is will the water and muddy conditions effect the fish? I have stocked it with catfish,bass,bream. It is about 1/2 acrea. Any help will be appreciated.tb

If it leaks down to a certain level and then stops, the problem is not the once sandy bottom but the dam. Twenty 4 wheelers aren't going to do anything but tear up the dam sides. You need to be asking the pond builder about how much of the sand he pushed from the bottom and how much clay he packed on the sides. If you have a sand strata, it will never hold water above that spot.
