Some small dead fish and minnows dead but at the bottom of the pond in about 2 foot of water.

I almost always see dead fish float, but would something else kill them and cause them to sink? Fish are whole and don’t look to have parasites on them.

Too rapid of a temp change in the water can kill them. Like getting 5" or so of snow in a shallow pond........

Fish float when their guts have more gas in them due to decomposition, and then the fish floats. Very few will float right after they die. If that happened, then the fish would have to be constantly swimming to stay down, and when they stopped swimming they'd float to the surface.

Cold water slows down decomp rate. What is your water temp?

Thanks, we did get like 3 inches of snow a in a day last week in Ohio late April. The kills came a few days after that.

I didn’t get to check water temp before and after the snow.
