A hunt above is run by Mike Macko, 262 Brown St., West, Ms. 39192. http://WWW.ahuntabove.org Mike takes children on a "Dream Wish" hunting, fresh water fishing and sea fishing. These children are special and this means so much at this point in their life. April 26 Mike took a 16 year old deep sea fishing The young man passed away recently. Mike has 4 more special children to plan trips for and most of his sponsors have had to back off because of these difficult times. Mike has areas to hunt for these children and deep sea fishing he asks for help and generally receives what is needed. Mike would appreciate some help. This is all about children. thanks

Terminally ill children will always touch our hearts and it is good that they be granted their wish. You would think that this does not involve many children but there is quite a few. I feel so much better when I am helping others to enjoy life just a little more.

Paul, I have, in the past, donated $. However, I believe I can do better. I'm going to contact them.

Thanks Dave. The organization that I am a member of sent some money and I had a check tag along also. This is one person I believe in and I watch his posts so I can better evaluate him as a individual. I believe he sheds many tears over these children and I realize his personal money is being used to complete these childrens last wish. Since he lost many supporters because of the economy it calls on myself and others to be more gracious in our giving. I know that everyone is asking for money and it pays to look seriously at this situation. In the organization I referred to above we help many families and it seems to be endless but it is very rewarding. I could write a book on helping others and I do not regret one moment. thank you Lord

You guys need to check with Catch -A- Dream. They are run by top notch hunters , fishermen and scientists who do only hunting and fishing type requests for kids and their families. It is run out of Miss State Univ by Marty Brunson a Fisheries Scientist. Deaner your friend could easily work with them. Take a look - it is a great organization which I personally recommend. IIRC Make a Wish quit doing hunting and fishing and Catch A Dream started. They have excellent individual and corp sponsors.

I have talked with Mike to get the diffence in the various organizations and he talks highly of all the different organization and the people running them. It was a very interesting discussion and I can understand what is keeping him involved with his own group. He is a dedicated person that is involved with helping all children, I do support his group and their endaverment (sp). He has a pond and I encouraged him to join as he desires information of which I do not give because of lacking sufficient knowledge. cheers

Mike is still preparing for the 4 childrens wish. This is terminally ill children and I praise Mike for doing this type of work as it does take a special person. I amagine he would do this for other special children also. I think the main thing is to get the children on the list then work for the other goals to make it happen. Mike needs to maybe plan a fund raiser to reliev e him of this side of the coin so he can go forth on the childrens wish. I am seriously thinking of a fund raiser for his organization but I need permission from the other members. If I can state it all correctly I should be able to proceed. As always it is all about children-----

I continue to work on the plans for Mikes fund raiser. Mike is willing to get involved, along with friends and some forum people. This will all be presented Wednesday evening and if approved we will hit the details very hard. With Mikes help it could be a good fund raiser.

I have notified Mike about the Octoberfest October 17th at the Stone County Fair Grounds. We will be working together on this fundraiser for A Hunt Above. Mark you calendars so you can participate and help Mike in his efforts to put a ray of sunshine in the lives of the handicapped and terminaaly ill children.

We will have a meeting Tuesday for NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS association to work on the HUNT ABOVE fund raiser and more. This is the first meeting for this organization and the interest has run high so our expectation is doing the same. There is so much to discuss and line out thaT SOME OF the discussion will be short as we must talk on the fund raiser and Mikes helpers so we can be better prepared.

I am in need of 10 large (3 x 6 ) coca cola banners but I do not have the special contact so it is difficult to obtain. Is there someone that could help me obtain the 3' X 6' banners. I plan to put them up on the roads leading to Wiggins and at the gate. Others have been successful in this endeaverment but I have been unable to do so. I need help please.
Posted By: Dave Davidson1 Re: A HUNT ABOVE - 07/26/09 10:52 PM
Paul, I would think Coca Cola would be glad to supply banners; especially for a good cause.

Have you contacted them?
Posted By: deaner Re: A HUNT ABOVE - 07/27/09 02:32 PM
We contacted coca cola and they desire to work with only a large national organization. I find this hard to believe and perhaps we hit the wrong person or someone with a off day.

Will give pepsi and 7 up a try----thanks.

Yesterday was spent making telephone calls and no one was at their desk. People do not return calls. I feel we are headed in the direction to be able to purchase these banners at the right price but I will not know until we actually talk to these people. We talked to the nicest lady that runs big events and she was very helpful. She is willing to contact some of her booth renters if we need help. If you look around you will meet some very helpful---nice people. She knew the "A HUNT ABOVE" people and would like to help their cause. It is all about children, disabled or terminally ill these people will take care of their personal needs and see that they have an enjoyable hunt or fishing trip.

We are renting booths and everything is progressing very well. Childrens games are being laid out and those in charge of various activities are grabbing hold and taking over. Yesterday we went to two activities and passed out over 100 fliers. Today a lady will pass out about 50 at the Hattiesburg gun show. We were at Joppa and Carnes yesterday. We visited with many friends and made new friends. I am thinking of buying the vinyl and making our own signs as this area is lagging. This is all for children that are terminally ill, "A HUNT ABOVE" will hopefully obtain the funds that will give them a big boost. He can not be expected to plan the children trips and run fund raising. The Lord will provide if we work, we can not expect the Lord to do this if we do not work also.

I contacted the coca cola service man in wiggins today and asked him about getting some banners and he said I would have some tomorrow. We were talking to the wrong people evidently. Mean while we had ordered some banners as we need them now. More later if they come in to the store.

They help so many and they help to keep everything light andd make jokes so the forum remains to be an enjoyment. We also have many posters that are highly trained and helpful. Highly trained also refers to a good education as well as background in pond knowledge. We have finally resolved our multiple banner situation for advertising. We purchased the blank banners and we are setting up the letters. This will take probably about 30 hours or more as letters are not available locally so this means travel to Gulfport. The banner time is really eating up our time. We are filling in the words on the banner to save as much money as possible for "A HUNT ABOVE ". Please do not misunderstand my wording as complaints of any kind. We in our hearts our involved and want to do as much for children as possible. We are very busy and HAPPY. We are having a ice cream social today for all involved and NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS members. This is our personal way of thanking our people , we love doing things for others. Keep us in your prayers and pass along any tips that will help us in this indeaverment. thank you

We are really looking forward to the fund raiser for "A HUNT ABOVE" . We are working hard to get the funds for taking care of these terminally ill children. As we always ssay it is all about children. I should clarify, funds are for their last wish such as a hunting or fishing trip and I amagine whatever else they may want.

We continue to work on our fund raiser for " A HUNT ABOVE". It is difficult to keep focused, but as always it is about children. We are about to post signs around Wiggins on the major highways. We are also working on minor details to bring everything to a successful conclusion. We must get approval on highway signs. We are also going to have araffle to help pick up expenses. If we can win over the public to what and why we are doing this it will come off favorable. Our people continue to come up with ideas of how to proceed so we can better this fund raiser. If we do not push hard it will flop. I want to thank POND BOSS for allowing me to place articles as I realize we are crowding out others. Our intentions are not to walk on others but to do the best we can. We need and will accept your help, ideas or what ever.

We seem to be moving in small steps but I am happy as this takes a lot of work. The members all signed up to help , so they want it to be a hugh success. When it is all about children and one of our members has a child like this from a automobile wreck. It makes it hit home. It is a pleasure to try and get these kids set up with enough funds to make a special hunting or fishing trip It is safe to say that some of these children will pass on at an early age---but they will experience happiness. If we can make a few children happy everything is alright. thanks to all

If you mention children around in the POND BOSS forum and you always have their attention. Fishing or anything connected to a pond the POND BOSS is active. "A HUNT ASBOVE" is taking care of childrens needs in having an experience in either hunting or fishing for the terminally ill. We will do our best for this fund raiser as our love for children is very strong. My prayers are that the list of terminally ill children will drop to zero but until then we do have a job to perform. See you all October 17 for the fund raiser. When you come on the grounds look me up and introduce yourself we may find a duty job for you also--if you desire.

We are preparing for a fund raiser for "A HUNT ABOVE" and we are going to organize a fund raiser for the Webbs on October 2. We have our work cut out for us. We have a good organization that will push hard to make it all work. They ask for nothing but they really put out the work. We are in this for the long haul. We are also having a fund raiser for the organization at Walmarts on September 26. We will be at Piggly Wiggly on September 19 For a food drive for the needy and a children home--Deanash Childrens Home. Named after Dizzy Dean. thanks

We are trying to organize several groups to be at our opening ceremony and to say a few words. The V F W has come to us first and requested to be in the opening ceremony. We are overjoyed to have them do the opening ceremony. They are in need of funds to do their work. We will push for scouts from the cubs to the ones in scouting. This will include both boys and girls and their leaders. Leaders this is your oportunity to come forth. We may start at 8:30 so these groups may have a good presentation program.
