Hi I'm seeking some info on ESS-13

I'm digging a new eco pond as my filtration source for my Koi pond in Florida, I just hit black hard pan 5 feet down. the hard pan is about two feet thick. under the hard pan is the water table which you can see starting to seep.

I wanted to know if I dig out the hard-pan and mix it with ESS-13 put a foot back down on the bottom and add a foot to the slope if it will make it hold water?

Thanks

I don't know, but it sounds kind of risky without testing first.

Try this?
1. Drill a bunch of <1/4" holes in the bottom of two 5-gal buckets to simulate a porous barrier.
2. Mix some hard-pan with the ESS-13 to half-full in the first bucket with some moisture and try to compact it like the pond basin would be.
3. Add water to fill the bucket the rest of the way.
4. Do the same with the 2nd bucket, but no ESS-13.
5. Observe the differences over a period of days.

newpondsam, I think there are ways (other) to seal this but for questions on ESS-13 call Shawn Walstad, 480-797-7341.
He's a specialist for this company and can answer your questions, and I'm not saying this IS the product to use but Shawn will answer your questions about this product.

EDIT: Just realized this OP was 2 months old.. probably gone.
