This is just an idea that has probably been brought up before. I was thinking this forum should have a market place, With used pond related stuff to sell privately. Maybe there is a reason there isn't let me know.

Blair

I like your idea - it makes a whole lot of sense to me. By the way, everyone, I might be in the market for all sorts of gently used pond items [feeders, aeration systems, etc.] - maybe that would help get things going?

I also had another thought: A list of pond management oriented products and everyone's ratings would also be a very helpful tool for the Forum. Chainsaws, UTV's, Portable Fish Structure, Leaf Blowers/Mulchers, Tractors, Lawn Mowers, Sunglasses, Outbuilding Manufacturers, Float Tubes, Waders, Rods/Reels, Jigs, Underwater Lights etc. could all be reviewed. I value the PBF opinions highly and think it would benefit everyone who ever shops for any product to have experienced performance reviews. As it stands I have to utilize many different sites in order to research purchases and it's pretty time consuming and I don't ever KNOW the guys from whom I'm taking direction. It's different here in that respect....I imagine we could put together a very impressive list pretty quickly and it would enable us all to perform research efficiently. Just a thought.

Blair,

I like the idea also. A good example of this in operation is on the honda valkyrie motorcycle club "VRCC" . You find used parts, seats, and many other used items for your Valkyrie bikes. This same format might work for us pond owners as well. It would at least be a good place to browse.

Thanks for the idea.

I have seen it also on a RC airplane forum.

They have it on the HuntingPA.com forum as well... Lots of places have similar threads. Definitely a good idea!

It's been discussed and vetoed from the top.
Posted By: blair5002 Re: Market place? - 03/16/09 05:37 PM
That's ok it was just a thought.

Good thought Blair. I understand the reasoning, maybe...advertisers constitute the fiscal backbone of the mag and they don't sell used equipment. Makes sense to me - biz is biz.

That's true, and also, the forum is such an amiable place....adding a more commercial element might take away from that, and possibly cause inadvertent offense and hard feelings. For example, what would happen if SOMEONE offered a thousand used green sunfish for sale and no one wanted them? Even for bait?

A certain CA pond owner will not be happy when he reads that...

Yolkie, baby....from whence does this GSF negativity eminate? Just the thought of a GSF being in "used" condition creeps me out.

And the war rages on!! \:o

Good points - brother Yolk. If used equipment is out, I still would like to try and compile a product list and ratings/relevant notes from PBF users. We do this topic by topic on the forum now, but keeping a concise list would be nice - and although I am addicted to reading past threads, it's not the most efficient manner in which to perform product research. Cabelas, BPS, Amazon, etc. all have these ratings - but I trust the PBF much more.

This sounds like a nice project for next Winter.

I am not touching the GSF slander - used or in any condition. Jhap has a long arm and I'm a short reach in the Midwest.

Imagine a world in which one thousand beautiful GSF could be purchased to enchant an otherwise commonplace pond. Wow, just imagine....

Imagine there's no blasphemers
It's easy if you try
And in the pond below us
Living only forage and GSF fry
Imagine this magnificent species
Living for today...

Imagine there's no pond weeds
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to treat with chemicals
Nothing to rake out too
Imagine all the greenies
Swimming around in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join the GSA
And the world will be as one

Imagine no GSF haters
If I could only get my wish
No need for retaliatory weapon strikes
To protect my favorite fish
Imagine all the GSA members
Ruling all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join the GSA
And the world will live as one

Now shape up or face annihilation.

In VA we call them Mental Detention Orders... Not sure what the equivalent is in Cali?

Tax service centers

I wonder if JHAP would take GSF as payment for doing your taxes. ;\)

Thank you for favoring us with such a heartfelt expression...that's simply a beautiful piece of verse.
Pondboss magazine should feature the Poet's Corner in each issue. Subjects are endless, really. I'd pay good money to see Brettski finally finish the "Ode to the Errant Toofed Angler".

Yolk, I would buy a thousand used GSF in a heart beat!!!!!

I'll even join the GSA! I have been converted into a GSF lover from your suggestion Yolk!

I can see it now-----the scales of a THOUSAND used green sunfish glistening in the freshly tilled dirt of my garden, doing what the GSF are best used for......fertilizing! Now THAT'S poetry!

No, just because I'm mental doesn't mean I'm stupid.

I see what you're all doing here. Don't think for one minute that I'm not documenting this heresy for future "re-education" procedures.

Ok, Ho Chi Min... I heard he focused on teachers and police officers first! I guess I will be one of the first to be "re-educated" Darn!
