I have had an explosion of weed after installing 40 gras carp into my 10 acre pond and being deluged with rain. huge floating mats covering 20% of the pond and growing something is causing the weed to dislodge from the bottom.. ?

Has anyone used Airmax-Wipeout

I'd bet the carp are up rooting the BPW allowing it to float about. Once they get it all cut back at the bottom...they will start to forage on the floaters. Assuming that is what's floating around. My crawdads will do this with APW that I have tried to get started on the bottom.

I can't help with Airmax-Wipeout use.

Airmax-Wipeout is a Fluridone product, same as Sonar A.S. Same application rates - you have to treat the whole body of water at once, from top to bottom.

I agree, there is enough plants there that the Triploid Grass Carp are just leaving what slips out of their mouths float to the surface and not chasing it, they have plenty in front of them to work on.

Mush,
I have a two acre pond that the Bushy Pond weed also went crazy. It started last year and was the middle of the summer so I bought a rake to help control it until spring. That's a lot of futile work. You just can't stay caught up with this stuff.
My pond has a lot of runoff so I pumped the pond down about a foot hoping that if (when) we got some rain it would not all flow out. I bought 2 gallons of it at a cost of $1.000. a gallon as recommended. The WIPEOUT was able to stay in the water for a little over 30 days before the pond filled up and started to flow out the spillway. Like you we have had an over abundance of rain this year. Just my luck! All the Bushy Pond Weed did die off and the pond became very stained looking but once again fishable.
Unfortunately three weeks ago I am seeing the weed reappear along the banks. It worked but evidently it did not kill the roots. The label says that the weed must stay in contact for 60-90 days. Sorry but I just can't afford to send that kind of money again. I am at a loss. Hope this helps you.

Correct. I use it in my hatchery pond during the summer when there's less potential rain to dilute it. Using it during spring rains when water is flowing makes it less effective. Fluridone works great if the water table is steady.

that weed is extremely aggressive and hard to control if you don't jump in on a treatment as soon as it is seen in the pond. Grass carp will eat it but it's better if you start out with the correct number of them in the beginning.
