Get rid of lilly pads without damaging fish

I recently tried to use aquacide pellets (https://www.killlakeweeds.com/products/aquacide-pellets) to control a lilly pad problem. The lilly pads have covered almost the entire pond, and this problem has likely gone on for many years prior to me buying the property. Is there a cost efficient and effective way to get rid of lilly pads without damaging the ecosystem (e.g., fishes)?

Get a couple of beavers.... they have taken care of all the pads in my and neighbors pond..... just saying

A family of 6 beavers cut back my lily pads significantly before they were trapped out of that pond. They liked to use the rhizomes mixed in with sticks to clog my drain pipe. Dug under the pig panels that I use as a trash guard to get to the pipe. Toppled quite a few trees too. Made a complete box on another drain pipe where beavers from a neighbor's pond were clogging a culvert. Industrious creatures.

Snapping turtles can do some damage too and may be easier to source.

First of all 'tzafod', i think you first need to correctly identify the type or name of "lily pad" that you have growing. Names and types to check are Spatterdoc yellow or cow lily (Nuphar advena), native white water lily (Nymphaea odorata) , Watershield (Brasenia), American lotus lily, or hardy hybrid water lily.
