All,

I currently have a 1 acre pond that I use for drinking water. It's about 10 years old.
I aerate it and add microbes on a regular basis.
Water is crystal clear but over the years the Chara is getting worse.
I generally rake it out, but it's starting to become a chore.
Is there any herbicide that can be used in drinking water that will control this issue?

Thanks in advance.

I have achieved Chara control using 2 GC in a .25 AC BOW - grazed it in a circle and around 75% was consumed the first year. You could stock 1 this Fall and see how the Chara ends up next year, you can always add another if desired control isn't attained.

Correct me if wrong but doesn't chara benefit drinking water by a certain type of natural filtration?? Seems like I seen that in one of our municipalities literature..
