Good day all. I’m looking for some advice on if it’s worth it for me to purchase a HiBlow 80-120LL system to aerate my lake frontage. I just bought on a 10ish acre lake that is shared with about a dozen other homes. There is no HOA so everyone is responsible for their own areas. I was wondering if the hi blow system would work to keep about an acre of the lake clear in front of my property or will it have little to no effect. Also I want to try to take care of the fishery, so far I’ve pulled up a couple 21” Large mouth bass, perch, channel catfish and crappie. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Welcome to the forums Sean!

That small system will do no more that create a few patches of bubbles that would be nice to look at along your shoreline (if oyu like bubbles and who doesn't?). If 10 homes all had that same system going along their portion of the shore, that might be a different story...might!

Aeration systems are not all that effective in keeping water clear. I assume you are talking about floating mats of algae or vegetation. They are a tool to help fight it, but they are very rarely the sole solution.

Your money would be better spent on a fountain and that would only increase the beauty factor. One fountain or a system like you mentioned would do next to nothing with regards to overall water quality...a smidgen, but nothing you could measure when it comes to dissolved oxygen...it's just too small for a 10 acre lake.

Having some bubblers within very close proximity of a dock might help keep the floating algae away from the dock, but only on calm days. I think you would be disappointed with the results compared to the money and time spend on it.

Thank you for the information. Any recommendations on the type of fountain?

Surely someone can recommend a fountain, but I have no experience with them. The only thing I can suggest is to contact one of the PB advertisers form the Resource Page...
