Well I have a weird situation going on.. I've been iced over for awhile but I've been kicking on the diffusers once a week or so to open up 3 nice size holes for sun penetration.. well kicked it on last night and I have 3 prolly 6 foot holes open on the ice. The fish are hitting the open water like crazy pretty well non stop.. A it's alot more aggressive than piping I've seen before.. Any suggestions should I been concerned..
I would say they are lacking do2. Anyway you can check it. When a nearby lake winter killed last year the fish were swimming up the ice fishing holes.
BGK, Consider running one or two fulltime for awhile.Lots of low and or no DO going to be a problem come ice off for many I fear.
What about running all 3 12 hours a day? This is the first time I've noticed them doing it this year?
I agree with Ted. I'd run 'em 24/7 for a while.
Two 24/7 in your 3 plus acre pond that is down 2 ft. (thanks for the call)
I agree. Run all three diffusers 24/7 in order to thoroughly mix the water. Once a week is likely only bringing anoxic water to the surface, no real mixing.
Got them on and goin.. Not there to Se what's going on but I'll check it out In the morning..
Sending your fishery DO vibes!
The piping has stopped everything seems to have calmed down OR DIED lol
Did you increase aeration?
Yeah my 2 shallower stations are on 24/7 now got 2 prolly 30' clear holes open now
Gonna be a cold one tomorrow kinda interested in seeing how much of a hole my diffusers keep open
Everything is looking good.. Hopefully I'm not freezing my fish but like Ted lea told me fish can handle cold water alot better than not being able to breath.. thanks for the help hopefully we get a warm up this weekend and it melts off the snow atleast..
