Hi all!
Long time reader, first time poster!

I have a 1 acre pond, its around 25FT at the Dam (West End) and slopes up to about 7-8ft in the middle of the pond then finally 3 ft .at the east end
I have to get more accurate depths next weekend, but I'm close!

The system I got a quote on was 5K. It seemed a little over kill for a pond this size.
They have the compressor by the house with a 1" airline to a manifold with 4 Diffusors and all the 5/8" weighted lines.
It seems like the system their selling me is a little overkill.
Thoughts? and thank you for the help!

How old is the pond?
What is the common water clarity most of the summer?

How deep is the water at plate3 and plate4?

IMO you could move Plate3 toward the main pond into water 8-11ft deep and get buy with 3 plates. You might be able to save $1000-$1500. Weighted airline is expensive. Generally mixing water (deeper - error) shallower than 6ft sometimes is not necessary due to it often is naturally mixing down to 6ft deep in all areas. IMO the compressor should be 3/4hp. You could save some money and build your own pump shelter if designed properly for natural air flow movement; cool air in bottom and hot air out near the roofline. IMO 5/8" weighted lines is a good idea. Do you have lengths for under water airline?
That is a fairly long airline run from house to pond. Are you installing or company installed?. You install the system might be cheaper.

Also, just be aware that a rotary vane pump won't work in that particular situation.

Bill, don't you mean shallower?

esshup is correct and thanks for seeing my error. I meant to write generally mixing water shallower than 6ft is sometimes not necessary. This is because most ponds with some wind exposure will often with some wind mix water 6 ft deep. Do your own pond measurements to verify this.

Hello all, finally got around to getting some depths on my pond!
Trying to figure the correct sizing like the amount of diffusers and pump size. I received a 5k quote, looking to put in a system in a month or so.
Any thoughts on sizing and a decent system? thanks all!
