Set up a brand new TH feeder a couple of weeks ago, and was surprised to hear it make a loud clattering sound when it went off. Thought it might need a break in period, but the sound persists, and the pellet output is notably feeble compared with my other feeders. Throws out maybe half to one third in the same amount of time, and distance is much decreased, too.

Anybody else have this issue? Is it common with new TH feeders? First time I've seen this problem. Is this an unlucky fluke, or the result of a change in manufacturing on their part?
Suggest looking at down spout inside and make sure something isn’t hung up
I agree with Pat, check that first. Food can get lodged in the down spout, and slow things down. Easiest way to clear it is to unplug the spinner and do test throws as you shake the feeder.

Anthropic, what size pellets were in the new feeder?
As with all feeds sometimes you find a range cube or some kind of hitchhiker that will plug up the works. What’s nice about the TH feeder is you can take the side panel off and take a peek
I've spent a bit of time fine-tuning mine but no expert.. esshup can better explain, he's quite the feeder tech on these.

Does it make this noise when there is no feed in the feeder and it goes through a "throw" cycle?

Like Al said, what size pellets are you throwing?

How far is the bottom of the spin plate set from the bottom of the hopper?
