I think I would prefer my kids to be playing XBOX than watching the popular you-tubers. But I most definitely prefer they fish over everything else ('cept maybe chores?). My kids often ask if I will take them fishing. I never say no and arrange the soonest possible time that I can do it. When they haven't asked and I think they done enough youtube and xbox ... I don't ask them to go fishing with me. I say, "Shut it down and get up ... we are going fishing" My son usually doesn't object but my daughter is often wanting to do some project with Mom. I find its better not to ask and giving opportunity to opt out. No matter how they feel when disrupted from games or youtube ... they are always having a great time once we are fishing.

It really is a different world....but that will always be the case. When I was a kid, we were pretty much outside in the Texas heat all summer. Riding our bikes to creeks, catching giant tadpoles, exploring some near-by woods, riding our Schwinn Sting Rays to a community pool a couple of miles away, riding our bikes down to a small grocery store and picking out a popsicle. I certainly wouldn't trade those days (or our music) for an X-Box or texting,

That's my bicycle!! Except mine was purple metal flake and ALWAYS had a baseball glove hanging on the handle bar! And baseball cars on the spokes! Guess I was destined to be a "car" guy! Hah!
