Yeah, click the little drop-down box next to your name in the upper-right of your screen, and go to Preferences. At the bottom where it says "Receive an email when a new thread, or reply to a topic is within your Follow Lists" select "Yes."
At the top of a thread you want to follow, there is a little flag/banner icon. Clicking that will add that thread to your list of followed threads. You should get email notifications after that.
