I would start by buying the books "Just add water" and "Perfect Pond Want One". I've seen the other books that deal with building and these 2 are the best for your situation and $$$. The cost would be minor even if you get just one good suggestion compared to trying to fix screw ups and saying I wish I would not have done THAT. Just Add Water is primarily construction written by a long time expert pond lake builder with Lusks help whereas Perfect Pond deals with building and also includes fish stocking and mgmt.
