I have been hoping you were going to have a clear win in your battle against this pond scum!
Perhaps a "truce" is your best option. I know they use containment booms pretty effectively on floating oil spills or floating trash.
Could you rig some type of boom to just protect your swimming area? You could use leftover PVC pipe, or just some cheap pool noodles on a rope?
