It is interesting that the USF&W sheet does not have the commonly occurring golden shiner on it. I also think that Flame's small shiners are golden shiners for several reasons. 1. GS is a very common shiner sold as bait. 2. It is a very high probability that the GS will spawn in a pond to produce the hundreds of shiners Flame is observing. 3. Fish in the pictures closely resemble the golden shiner. and 4. Very few native shiner species will spawn in ponds without access to a creek habitat or moving stream-like water.
