I stocked them 2 years ago. They do start off slow but once they get to 6 inches they take off! When they get really big, some of them get really black looking, like a black perch with a bright red ear. They do love pellets and are very aggressive. I have them stocked with Res and have seen no problems yet. I highly recommend over reg hybrids.
