Pond Boss Forums Thread Like Summary - Pond BOSS Pro Block Bacteria

I'm looking to purchase a Pond BOSS Pro Bacteria Block. I estimate my oval 1 acre 16ft deep pond to be 3,534,300 gallons, and 58,905 sqft surface area (figuring 8ft average depth as the pond's banks slope rather steeply). I run a single bottom aerator placed in the middle of the pond (also have a second aerator that is currently not installed). My question is, how should I treat with the block - Place it in the middle near the aerator? Break it into smaller pieces and place around the aerator, or closer along the shorelines? Should I install the second aerator and evenly space both of them across the middle of the pond, and break the block in half for each? Thanks.

Another opinion. If it was mine and shallow diffuser was 2-4 ft deep, I would only run it during winter primarily during ice cover. Generally the shallow water areas in most all ponds have well oxygenated water in that shallow zone due to some form of photosynthesis oxygen production from various types of aquatic plants that including microscopic Phytoplankton. Using only the deep diffuser during open water season allows more air as cubic feet per minute (CFM) thus more air volume to go to the deep diffuser that then causes more water movement from the deep diffuser and ic should be more efficiently mixing the main basin of the pond .

Another option is during the open water season move the shallow winter diffuser (secondary one) into deeper water as a remote area (maybe 8-12ft deep) from the deep diffuser AND run it with the deep diffuser during summer. Then in late Fall move secondary diffuser to the 2ft-4ft zone for winter. Placement of secondary diffuser depends a lot on pond shape and bottom configuration.
