Pond Boss Forums Thread Like Summary - Naturally Reproducing Trout Pond/Stream

Hey guys, this is my first post here on the forum, just joined today, but been an active reader of all the pond knowledge for years. So I had a project in mind for this upcoming summer. There are two springs I have in my woods, they originate hundreds of yards apart but eventually join to create a stream that flows through my property. They are in a deep shady part of the forest(have trails not to far out for access). I want to dig a pond(1/2) acre but very deep and widen/deepen the stream that flow from the spring to create a self sustaining trout pond with natural spawning. Any tips/knowledge regarding my situation would be greatly appreciated. Please ask any questions you have that aren't answered above about the project.

Although there are no trout in our pond this year, I've had trout, browns, rainbows, and tigers all prey on the sunfish species in the pond. In fact I could throw the filleted carcasses of sunfish off the dock and have the trout dart in grabbing the remains as they sank. The tiger trout were particularly entertaincng to watch. As the rainbows would cruise through at high speed snatching a slowly sinking carcass, the tigers would grab a skeleton, come to a stop, and shake the sunfish remains, breaking it into smaller pieces as we've seen sharks do on the tube.
The trout loved Optimal BG pellets and ignored the living sunfish rising to the hand thrown Optimal and meal worms. However. the feeding sunfish would displace themselves several feet when each trout cruised through.
I can only imagine the trout were eating plenty of small sunfish.

I'd like to hear how it went/goes as well. I have recently purchased a property that was built to spawn trout and it's quite the complex operation. Non functional now, but will be planning on putting trout back (unless some do survive, still a mystery).

Have questions about current fish as well. Again, not 100% sure what's there but it looks like the major fishing pond has GSF...what's the prognosis of trout and them coexisting?

I'm not the OP, but since my last post in this thread I can now report that at least one of my ponds has a self-sustaining trout population.
The pond that has the for certain BRKT population is just under 1.5 acres and about 10 feet deep.
No management has been done to it for at least 30 years. I see lots of fish in it, and I've caught 4 BRKT and about 40 PS.
It looks like there are other fish, but with my limited time there, I have not caught anything different yet.
Soon it will be frozen and I'll try for more next spring.
