I am going to be installing an outflow pipe on my pont saturday and I am curios where on the pipe to install the antiseep collars in relation to the water side of the dam. Any ideas would be appreciated

On both my ponds, there are dual collars installed with one near each side of the core - 1 or 2 feet from the core edge, several feet apart from each other.

It's been awhile since I read it, but Pub 590 has a section about collar location. We have a fairly large dam mass with a 300+ ft long 6" PVC drain pipe. We placed the first one just below the top toe of the dam (where the flat top breaks into the slope down to the pond) all the way down to the drain. We placed the second one 20' behind it, further downstream.
So far, so good.

The NRCS told me to go 2 ft. from below the overflow. However, one ft. should be OK if the overflow pipe is big enough.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

paul o nelson:
If you are placing one collar place it in the center of the dam. If you are placing 2 collars place on 20' from the center in front and one 20' from center in back.
