I haven't made up my mind whether to try it or not this year. In fact I'm not scheduled to pick up my 1 lb + bass until Oct. 6th. And for now I think they will have plenty of GSF to eat. I was thinking about the future if it were an option.

It sounds like your LMB are considering it. Were they pellet trained where young?

Anyway I would be interested on how it goes, keep us posted.

Bill Webb emailed me the info so I thought I would post it.

My LMB have started to take the larger pellets now. And the HSB are taking them aggressively. In fact, the HSB seem to prefer them over the Aquamax 600 that I have began to feed again.

My LMB were NOT pellet trained when younger. They seemed to 'self-train'. I don't know if they learned it from the SMB they live with, or just learned it out of neccessity. I rarely see a LMB over 2.5 lbs feed on them, but they do feed on them.

I haven't rod and reeled a HSB since I started feeding this to them, but by watching them feed they seem to be growing quickly right now. In the next few weeks I will be fishing the pond more and I will report the body conditions back here.

You know, I once got the brilliant idea to taste a couple of pellets. They weren't all that bad but I remember thinking that they would make a good diet food, especially the fish base ones. Later, I read the label. Yuck!

What are current prices? I saw were someone paid $27 what about other parts of country. My supplier is not cutting me much of a break, $23 for 20 bags. Cecil,Theo, others.

$24/40lb for the largemouth feed here vs. $18/50lb for Gamefish chow. The way I figure it, you're getting a 41% increase in protein for 67% more money. It's actually only a few cents higher per pound than what I was paying for 42% protein trout pellets but they mostly didn't float. From what I've read here, it costs more to make them float.

Hi Dave and Nedoc , I have tasted various dried animal foods over the years But the worse I ever did was when I was 16 and I worked at safeway and the butcher dared me to eat a raw chicken heart if he did. He did and I did.

I wouldn't mind trying the Aquamax Largemouth at some point, I just wonder if my large cc will get them more than the bass?

NEDCO are you feeding a lot of catfish along with the different basses?

I only have one catfish in my bass pond where I feed it regularly. The one catfish eats quite a few. In my other pond I have more catfish, and they go to town on the Aquamax LM when I throw a few pellets out there.

I hate to keep bumping my own thread but I wanted to update the behavior of my fish with the Aquamax Largemouth. All I can say is anyone who has Hybrid Striped Bass and the ability to be at the pond and hand feed them, you MUST try this stuff. WOW!! They love it. I still have to fish for them to check their body condition but they are eating this stuff vigorously and with alot of hate. It is so cool to watch. It took me nearly a month, feeding them approx. every other night, but once they caught on they fell in love with it. They almost ignore the regular aquamax now. And they are no longer 'studying' it when they eat it, but they now 'attack' it. The LMB and SMB are eating it as well, but they seem a bit bashful when the HSB are feeding because they are so aggressive now. All in all, trying Aquamax LM was well worth it. Well done Purina!!

My order came in last Friday and I started feeding it on Saturday. Only the catfish were eating it until last night. I didn't throw out any Gamefish Chow and a few LMB started eating them as well as a couple of HSB.

It will take some time. It will be interesting to see if your's react the same way as mine have.

I think the big KURPLUNK sounds may be a little intimidating to some of the fish compared to the light shower sound of the Gamefish Chow.

I have been trying to get this stuff since Aug. I'm supposed to get a shipment tommorrow to local store. Can't wait to try it out.

Good luck Greg. It only took a little over a week to get it from my local Purina Dealer but it came in on another big shipment. I may have just lucked out on timing. The HSB and LM seem to be liking more each day, even with the big cold front that just hit us. I mixed the GFC and AMAX-LM when I fed last night and the HSB and LM ate both types.

no takers yet. Man that is some big chunks. I will try to churn them by throwing in a few of the trout chow pellets that a few take.

Greg, what species are you feeding? Just LMB? My HSB took to it first and seemed to 'train' the LMB. Or at least that is how it appeared to me.

Yep just LMB and still no feeding on big pellets stil feeding somewhat on trout chow. Cool Temps did not help.

I've noticed about 1/3 of the LM pellets sink fairly quickly, within 10 or 15 seconds so maybe the bass are waiting for it to sink? My LMB will take the Gamefish chow twice as much as the LM pellets when floating on the surface but I'm not sure whether this is due to size preference or that they simply don't need to eat as many of the larger size or maybe the higher sinking percentage factors into this as well. The HSB seem to like bigger pellets better.

Ryan thanks for that. I thought when I came back down to the pond after making my rounds some of the pellets were eaten, thanks for busting my bubble. I wonder if the sinking might actually make them eat them better? I plan ot get the northern bass next week so looking forward to trying them out, already trained on feed.

The fish I feed indoors always eat the sinking pellets first. I bet LMB do too.

Don't feed them for a few days and try it. Also my bass under 2 1/2 pounds weren't as interested as the 3 pounders and up. I do know the crumble in the bottom of the bag makes the small bluegills go crazy. Even had small gills head knocking the pellets like soccer balls!

I notice that my HSB will sometimes swipe at the floaters often making them sink. I'm not sure if it's intentional or simply a missed strike but the pellets rarely make it back to the surface as the tell tale silver flash immediately follows. The LMB seem to dart around occasionally plucking one from the surface. The few giant CC I have left have switched almost exclusively to the LM feed. Last night I saw the BG pecking at the giant pellets. A 6" BG tried to swim off with one and a HBG actually ate one, leading me to believe they taste as good as the Gamefish Chow.
