Ok, one more problem. I have cat tails all around my pond. right now they're brown and dead looking. I got my coppernose from a fish supplier, but got the recommended number from the fish and wildlife guy. thats why i got 1000. the guy that actually put the fish in my pond told my mom to get roundup and gave her the name of some chemical, i guess the active one that kills it. i think its the one that i have seen on here. I have it wrote down but its in my truck. ok so my prob is, i need to kill the cattails before fertilizing my pond right? this is just gonna make my overstock problem worse, now i'm gonna have to wait for the cattails to die i guess before i can fertilize, holding up my bream growth even more, i guess basically im just gonna have to wait till next year to stock my bass. that makes me sick. if i had the money i'd just hire somebody to come do whatever lol, but im in debt up to my eyeballs right now. i hate to ask all of these questions but i dont have much time to search the forum, i work all time. Thanks guys.

I think what you are talking about is called rodeo it is the stuff that I use to kill cat tails it has to be mixed with a surfactant to work and in Indiana the best time to kill cat tails is in the fall.I like to hit them with some reward during the sping and summer to weakin them and then hit them with the rodeo it seems to work and is cost effective.Doc

Keven . I'm with you I worked all weekend and just now chekcing here and emails. I would go ahead and fertilize. It is not that much money... so you will may have to use a little more to compensate for the cattails soaking it up. I am seeing them green up now and you can spray them as soon as you see green. You can legally use any glyphosate product with an aquatic label. I use Aquastar but Rodeo is more common. Mix a 2% solution and add a surfactant. I'm sorry to hear about you not getting bass. I think I would stock this year with less numbers take the recommendaed actions instead of losing a year of bass growth.
Good luck.
