How much reward should I mix per gallon of water to spray from a backpack sprayer around a one acre pond?

Rayb,

It depends on what type of plant you are trying to kill, the total area (& possibly volume if you're after a submerged species) of water actually targetted, and the rate at which your sprayer discharges. The last portion is important because you don't want to get half way around your pond and realize that your chemical is gone. In this instance, you would have over-applied if you calculated the mix to make it around the entire pond.

Be sure to read the label because it will tell you the recommended dosage per plant per acre-ft.

If I'm still up when you reply, I'll try to help you out. Otherwise, I'm sure others will chime-in to help you.

Rayb it is 1-2 gals/ weeded acre. In general we have our system down and mix in 4-6 ozs/gal and with a good mist hitting target plant will smoke it. However where Shawn is located water quality is diff and he sems to have to use more, this is for sure the case with copper products.

MY advice is to look at label for plant you are treating for instance for hydrilla we have to use 2 gal/acre rate. Other native plants will kill over with much less. Once you know the rate then figure your surface area. I would dilute it more than you think so you do not run out like Shawn said. You can always walk around again quickly if you have some left. make sense?
