Think a lot and long term about what you want because planting trees is a multi-generation change
Trees close to the edge might wind up in the water if they die or get blown over (bad if you don't like the look...good if you're a fish looking for a place to hang out). Also, the leaves will wind up in the bottom every year, providing a source for decomposition. This may not be any issue considering the size of the body of water.
