Problems caused by trees is a relative thing. A 12a lake negates just about all the problems except for the dam. A dozen large trees could cause all kinds of problems for a 1a pond, but would hardly affect such a large body of water at all. Just don't plant too many trees, or plant them too close to the banks and you'll be fine.
