Brian Let's see if Cecil will add some comments about beneficial components of pond construction. Should his pond be drainable or seinable? Which is preferable?
It would be nice to have them drainable. Personally I prefer to have power at the pond and pump with a sump pump. HOw steep should his sides be? Will vertical sides slide in or cave in?.
It depends on the soil on how steep one can make it. A liner would allow you to go pretty steep though even with sandy soils. It their an optimum depth for the basin?.
I'd say 8 feet or so. Is 1/10 acre ponds adequate for his spring water flow rate?
