I recently bought this camera and thought I'd share my experience with you all. I'm not very familiar with camera operation so I mostly limit myself to "point and shoot". From what I read Kodak doesn't have the best picture quality of all brands, but it is one of the most user friendly.

I don't know enough about cameras to do a detailed review so I'll just post a few pics and tell you what I like. So far I don't have anything to complain about, especially considering that I only paid $214 including shipping. That was an online purchase from a giant chain and I had to pay tax. That might not sound all that inexpensive, but this camera is loaded with cool features. Be aware that the camera doesn't come with a rechargeable battery or charger so I had to spend and extra $50 to get those.

It has:

12 X optical zoom
7.1 mega pixels
iso setting which is good for low light
some fancy German lens
rapid burst to capture several photos in a few seconds
panoramic photo stitch of 3 images - you do this with the camera as you take the photo

Those are just some of the features I've used so far. I think they add a lot of value to the camera.

Here are some shots of Hummingbirds at our feeders. To get these I used the zoom at about 10X from 10 feet away, and also the rapid burst o' photos setting:








I'll add more pics here if anyone is interested. Otherwise most of the images I upload from now on will be from this camera.

Image stabilization is the bee's knees!

I forgot about the image stabilization which I'm pretty sure helped these shots come out. I believe it also works in video mode.

Are you sure that's not the "Hummingbird's knees?"

GW - The photo quality is plenty good enough for us - at least me. I have a DX-6490, the earlier verision of your Kodak camera. As you mention the software is very user friendly which is what I really appreciate compared to my Sony digital camera.

By the way: what feature did you use to post just the small version of the photo with the associated link to the larger photo. I like that application for the forum.
