Bill, thank you for your detailed account on hybrid bluegill. I think it is a no brainer not to stock hybrid for me but rely on my native bluegill and feed them well so they can obtain a decent eating size of 8-12" if possible. Have any other pond owners had luck with raising large native bluegill in the northern regions with four distinct seasons and what type of food are you using with the % of protein content to attain this growth over a shorter growing season.
