I'd like to get some vigorous bank stabilizers for the wave-erosion end of the pond. As it is also my "recreation" spot I'd rather not plant the tall ones like bullrush/cat tails or iris. Needs to be low. Any suggestions appreciated. I'm imagining plants that can handle both wet bank and several inches submersion as well. Thanks.

I have done a little research into this myself. I have come up with a few that I am trying out. So I am not sure what the end result maybe. Here are the few plants I am trying on the steep banks.Crown vtch, ice plants, and snow in summer. I have already had some trouble with snow in summer as it is too hot were I live for them to do good. So if you google search those plants you can decide if they may work for you.

Oh, I forgot to mention some of these plants are considerd invasive. But, where I want them to grow I donot think they will be a probolem. All three are low growing mat forming type plants. That does not need mowing, which is impossible where I want them to grow.

I'm slowly getting a type of spike rush established. It only grows 6-8 inches tall. A mature plant. one of it's offsprings.
