It's impossible to miss it here (see my From: at the bottom of this post). \:\) It's the biggest two weeks of the year here, the Kentucky Derby Festival. Starting in the recent past with Thunder over Louisville air show and incredible fireworks display:

"After more than a decade, the show remains the largest annual pyrotechnic display in North America. Seen by millions worldwide via a July 4th rebroadcast on the Armed Forces Network to more than 150 countries, it is the states pride. A Discovery Channel documentary on fireworks shows says it best, Thunder is the Grand-daddy of them all!."

If I had to choose coming to Louisville for the first Saturday in May, or Thunder two weeks prior, it would be Thunder. People come from all over the country to see it. Well, both of them, for that matter. Lots more people at Thunder than Derby though, 500K+ vs. 160K.

I've lived here for about 7 years and never been to Derby, but the wife and I always go to Thunder. We always watch Derby on TV.
