I am in the process of a room addition and Have talked to the county for permits and they give me a list of thing required.

My question is, Do any of you guys know a free downloadable program on the net that will allow me to put my construction drawings into a more professional format?

I have found a couple short trial versions but just about the time I add in the 3rd window it say this is a free trial version and you have excedded your free time.

My rough in guy knows exactly what I want to do and pretty much will match the outside of the house.

I figure I will have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get this done since I am not hiring a person to draw up my house plans.

Any thoughts?

I don't know of any you can download that will take you through the whole design process, but most office supplies carry fairly cheap and easy to use programs that would work for a small addition.
The county our farm is in only required a floor plan, 50 bucks, and about 10 minutes review time and I was out of there with a permit for a cabin.

Google SketchUp V6 Sketchup is a full blown 3D drawing package that I used when tring to visualize modifications to my 130 yr old farmhouse. It is Free! I can't believe it. The Pro version just allows more import/export options, but I have even made 3D pdf files for emailing or others viewing. It will take some effort to learn, but as with my project, seeing it in 3d, walking around etc. is worth the effort if it helps you do it right the first time. It's about a 35 meg download.

Another neat thing you PondMasters might find interesting is that you can model the topography of your property. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks powerful.
Good help and online tutorial stuff, they have a online forum too but it is very lame compared to the one we know and love. Only risk I know is that you may spend more time designing than doing... Let me know what you think. Jeff

Thanks for the link, That is one cool program! I have just about completed my model, I am stuck on the back side of my roof area, Little tricky getting all the lines to match and fill in. I tried to jump right in with out a few lessons, WRONG! A few quick lessons and I am in the game.
