First let me tell you the story behind this project. My neighbor bought his land next to mine after I allowed the previous neighbor to run fence on my proprty for cattle. The first neighbor passed away and now my wife is worried about the new neighbor wanting to claim the land(about an acre and a half). So she has given me the green light to build a minnow pond to support my 2.0 acre pond. Any comments about Ohio land laws? Anyway, Bill Cody, I read another thread about you having experience here in Ohio with this type of project. My plan is to feed the pond with water from a tiled creek that also feeds my bigger pond. I bought a 15' X 30' liner and will go 3-4 feet deep. Keep in mind this is a project that if it works I may build one a year until I run out of solid ground. One more comment. What would happen if I choose to grow "1" monster HBG in this pond? How big could the HBG get? ;\)

Those minnows aren't flatheads they are fatheads. \:D A flathead is a type of catfish.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

IIRC it will be hard for the neighbor to claim your land unless you "abandon" it; building a pond on it is one way to show usage. BTW the fence the neighbor built on your property is yours to use, dismantle, or run line fence down the property line next to it. Keep in mind I'm not a real estate attorney, just a guy with fence. If the new neighbor shows any indication of giving you a hard time about the former cattle pasture, get a real estate attorney.

A small FHM pond only 3-4 feet deep may not suffice to overwinter the minnows. Most likely a HBG in it would grow to 1, 1.5 lbs at most. I'd as soon try one Redear.

Thanks guys, my bad on spellcheck, I was thinking of only wintering over a few pounds on minnows to see how they do.

No offense meant. I have just seen numerous people call them "flatheads" and wanted to make sure that was not the case.
