HAVE A NON FISH REALTED QUESTION.

I JUST PICKED UP A USED TWO PERSON PADDLEBOAT (AQUAMATE). WHEN I PUT IT IN THE WATER IT WAS FAIRLY LIGHT . WHEN I TOOK IT OUT 3 DAYS LATER IT WAS HEAVIER AND HAD SOME WATER IN BETWEEN THE BOTTOM THAT SITS IN THE WATER AND THE SHELL THAT YOU ACTUALLY SIT ON. I NOTICED THERE ARE 2 HOLES IN THE FRONT AT THE TOP. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF PADDLEBOAT NORMALL GET WATER INBTEEWN THE TWO HALFS? I HOPE I AM EXPLAINING THIS RIGHT.

I don't think there is anything normal about that. Have you closely examined the bottom? I don't know how a couple of holes near the top could cause a leak. Oh, it could be somewhere around the paddles. You might call Aquamate and ask about seals or something around the paddle area.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

My new little plastic boat has a drain plug in the same location. It's to drain the interior of the hull. I guess they anticipate some water getting in there.

Damone, we have an aluminum pontoon paddle boat at the pond, on one of the pontoons there is a small pin hole on the bottom from being dragged on the shore many times. If the paddle boats sits in the water overnight when it cools the one pontoon gets a little water in it as the air inside the pontoon cools and contracts. Over time this can get quite a bit of water in the pontoon which is easily cured by pulling it out of the water all the way.

Damone - Our old Bantam 2 person boat had a leak that developed over the years. I removed the through-the-hull fittings where the drain plugs are installed. I put Clear Silicon on the fittings and tightened them back in position. There have no more leaks since.

The holes in front are for tipping it up and draining it. I agree: pin holes, condensation, and even leaks around the seals for the peddle/paddle shafts can do it. I routinely tip ours (2 Paddle boats/ different brands) up every so often and dump quite a bit of water out, even though there are no 'apparent' leaks that I can see. It is just another Honey-Do for the Pond Meister. (-:
