Thanks for the advice. I'll think about removing the brush piles... probably will remove about half of them as the wife thinks they are ugly..LOL...

I caught an 11 lb, 29 in. CC today. I finally got one of the bigger guys. I've taken about 22 # of CCs out of the pond this week.

Congratulations. If I ever get overrun with big catfish again, you'll be the first on my list to come to a fishing party in my pond.

I still say a gill net with big mesh would do the trick for both large catfish and grass carp. Maybe I should buy one and rent it out? If the mesh is big enough, the smaller fish will swim right through, and any other larger fish like bass usually avoid gill nets. They're not as expensive as you think.

My pond is about a � - � acre with a max depth of 6'. Up until this last spring there would be 12 - 15 CCs come up when I fed them. I know they are still there and even more that I didn't see.

Over the last few days I have taken over 30# of CCs out of the pond.

My question is how much will have to be removed to make more room for the LMBs to grow to a good size?

Let the bass tell you that.

When removing LMB to help the remaining LMB grow, CW sez keep removing bass until the RW on the remaining fish improves. I'd think the same measure of success would apply - when bass body condition and growth improves, you may have taken out enough CC.

After all, you're unlikely to remove all the CC at once. It's gonna be a gradual process over time; watch your LMB size & condition as you go to provide information feedback.
