The pond can only support so many fish. 10 pound CC are probably predator enough to be considered moderately effective competition to LMB. In taking up part of the pond's total fish biomass, they are direct competition.

If you want the most big bass you can possibly get in your 1/4 acre, remove all the big CC you can. Unless there are very few small bass in the pond now, you will have to thin the bass as well. Be aware that fairly few large bass can be supported in that small a pond.
