Took the kiddos out to the pond last night and hand tossed some food and saw all the fish species that had been stocked I was glad to see all doing well.. threw the sain out down the pond in another location and even better to see the growth on all but especially the bass from fingerling 2-4" to some being in the eight inch range and fat since April (is that possible or is it some maverick fishes that got brought in months before by rain, birds, etc).. Very shocked to see more growth on them than the catfish which have done well but not to the over tripling in size that the bass had.. Not to my suprise I caught NO FHM (thats why the bass are so fat I guess) and to my suprise caught several golden shiners ranging in size ( istocked them periodically from two years ago till months before the stocking of the other fish.. There are small fry schools all over the place and I dip netted a few of them and saw many different looking fry, some of which were brim and some of which I am not sure.. Caught a RES and she was oozing eggs (oops) I quit doing the sain method then, but it was great to see reproductivity and size growth in all fish, but very impressed with the bass so far...

I do have a quick question is there any other sites or pics of fish fry I can see I have seen those on here and it helped determine the breem fry but I am not sure on the others, there were three different fry in schools I guess Breem, FHM, GS fry but that is going off prior knowledge of what is in there that is of breeding age..

Thanks in advance...
Damon

Damon:

Glad you could pick out the bream fry. Personally, I can tell Lepomis fry apart from other fish, but don't have a clue whether they are BG or RES or ??? at that size.

I have some LMB fry pics, shown below.

We had a thread with young (not sure they are still fry) FHM pics recently; see My first babies.

GS = Gizzard Shad??? If that's correct, maybe someone can find shad fry pics.

LMB fry (note the prominant lateral line, present even at this size):
