This is now.

My condolences Chris. We went through an 8 year drought here. Lots of staring at the skies and thinking about rain dances. This year we have gotten plentiful rains. I'm not taking it for granted. Have faith. It's gonna rain. It's just gotta.

Thanks Dave, I know it will rain someday but it sure is sad now. What's really bad is all around us is flooded, it's like we have a roof over us and only a little rain gets through. UUGH!

Chris, I wish I could give you some of my rain! I'm having just the opposite problem. We've had so much rain, the pond has overflowed several times. I'm losing fish in spite of the 2 screens I have on the spillway. I had gotten so much ground debris and silting in the pond that I've spent $2,600.00 on limestone to border the pond to help filter the mess, and my dam is eroding. I had anticipated the same problem you're having when I built the pond, so I had a shallow well(100') drilled, but so far I have not had to use it.

Kent, thanks I have thought of that very thing with all the rain that has hit close by. Had we gotten that, we wouldn't have a pond coz the dam would have probably washed out. Geesh I wish there could be a happy medium.

It's funny how the weather guessers always miss it. In dry years, you can have a prediction of 50% rain 3 days in a row, and not get a drop. In wet years, you can have a forecast of 20% rain 3 days in a row, and have a nice shower all 3 days. We're having a wet year, so a forecast of 20% or 30% will get us a shower 9 times out of 10. I wish I could send some of our rain your way too. My pond is spilling over as we speak. We have had close to 3"s since yesterday, and more on the way. I'm startting to wonder if my spillway will be able to keep up.

Here in Indiana we had the driest May in the past 15 years. June has been even dryer. For June I've gotten .3 of an inch of rain.

It sure has been weird weather.

How old is the sad pond? How deep was it? I had a 3/4 an acre pond dug in april. Live in southern mn. Have had very little rain. Beginning to wonder if it will ever fill.

Chris, I know what you mean about it raining "over there". During the drought, I went through a lot of muddy roads that cleared to dust to get to my place.

The pond was dug in fall of 2002, Its supose to be 8 ft deep at the deepest point. It filled up right away but then it has evaporated out every year. So I will be glad when it gets full and stays that way, we may have to dig it deeper to keep any water in it.

I feel your pain!! In the Northeast we have seen only about 1 inch of rain over the past 2 months. We have also seen more days over 90 than we have in a typical summer, and we are not even there yet. I have added over 200,000 gals of public water to keep the pond stable.

Thus, I feel your pain and could use some rain.
