What should I put in my minnow trap to catch some of the CNBG fry?

I have a 30 gallon fish tank that I would like to put a few of my new CNBG fry in.

I've been using floating pellets with good results.

I use wheat bread. Use a twisted ruberband across the middle for a bread holder and open a loop in the middle of the twisted rubber band to hold the bread. For true fry I use a blue pool dip net

I use a paint strainer bag filled(?) with pellets. Toss a couple out in the vicinity of the trap.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Thanks for the info. The way my pond slopes, I think it would be hard to use a pool dip net. I sure will give it a try. When are they not "fry" anymore?

oh, I just mean that with a pool dip net you can get the ones that would slip thru the minnow trap holes. In my minnow trap I usually get 2" and up. I got some 1cm with a dip net. When they are that small some die with capture and handling but some live. The way I do it, not that it's right, is I position the dip net with mouth facing up and push it into the water following the bottom then scoop up at about 3' of water. Seems to work to get the tiny ones. Skimming the edges works too. Try both ways and put out your minnow trap to ensure success.
