There isn't cable internet (or tv) available where I live, and DSL will probably be obsolete before it would be available here.

After being spoiled in the city (3000 kpbs ADSL connection), I couldn't take slow speeds so I got HughesNet satellite service. I get a max of 1000 kpbs for about $70 per month. That's 1/3 the speed for about twice the money I was paying, but hey, I'm out of the city. It still blows the doors off of dial up.

The service isn't bad, heavy rain will interrupt it, but normally the connection is stable. I'm not promoting Hughes, but it's what I got and it isn't too bad.
