We are considering selling our S. Origun ranch and moving to the Helena Montana area. Can Channel Cat survive northern winter temps? Also, what can ya'll tell me about raising Walleye compare to LMB, BG and CC. I suppose BG can be raised just about anywhere for feed?

Some very good catfishing takes place in the Red River of Manitoba, so if they survive there I would think they can survive in Montana. They may not grow as fast as they do down south but apparently they do get big.
One question I would have would be if they can be imported or planted in Montana.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Thanks Cecil. I thought so, but it sure is nice to hear from "the experts".  But too, you bring up an excellent subject, importing fish to that area. I know that Montana prides itself in almost 100% non-stocked, native fisheries, and I'll have to check and see if CC are up there already. Otherwise, Walleye will have to do. Oh darn...
