This was the first one we caught  Here's the other one  I found them on spawning beds. I could see at least 5 beds. I sure hope these young one's have a good spawn.
brand new, never before used 1/4 acre pond.

From my understanding they have thousands of babies and will fill the available nitch between being eaten and hiding until they are bigger. I just stocked my pond this spring and already have thousands of babies. You can get use a fine blue pool net and give the edges a few scoops to see the real small ones and see how they have spawned. I bet you have a bunch at this point.

I checked on them this morning and they were darting in and out and chaseing one another around the nests. Being new at this. Whats going on?

I stocked them in January. They were 1 1\2"s so I'm guessing that they are around a year old.
