I prefer you continuing with an existing thread until you change subject matter. For instance all construction related posts in your construction thread. But if you have a stocking issue post start a new thread in the appropriate section or if you are dealing with a different aspect of construction (building a dock, etc) then start a new thread. This way we can follow your construction progress from beginning to end in one thread. Look at some of Brettski's stuff and you'll see what I mean - he has threads on wetland development, house construction, etc - makes it easier to follow that way.
Of course be forewarned that you may start a thread related to spillways and by the end of it we might be discussing alternative uses of ear wax. I'm not mentioning any names but there are folks here that have a tendency to stray from a thread's subject matter.
