I love it Tom! I just got my first spawn of what appears to be at least 5 million. The fry schools are deep, wide, and everywhere. I can watch them for hours. Glad to see a fellow Hoosier/doting new dad as proud as me of our babies. 2.5 acre first year pond with an initial stock of 30 lbs. FHM. Maybe a little heavy but talk about a bass cocktail. The bass are gonna love me when I stock them this fall. Tell me more about your pond, you are probably located within 1/2 hour from mine located in exctreme NE Hamilton county.

Blaine,

I'm about ten miles north of Muncie. I have a 1/2 acre pond that was dug last summer. It filled up over the winter. I began stocking it before I found this site. I put in 5 lbs. of FHM, 5 lbs. of GSH, 300 2-3 inch BG, 100 5-7 inch BG, 200 4-6 inch HBG, 50 3-4 inch LMB and 25 3-4 inch HSB. I really enjoy going out every evening and hand feeding them and watching them grow.

Tom,

Do you have any pictures of the whole pond? My pond was built last year as well. I'm stocking by the book. 1600 BG, 325 RES, 10 lbs FHM last fall, another 20 lbs. ealy April. Looking forward to stocking approx 220 LMB this fall due to the FHM smashing spawning success. Possibly some HSB in a couple of years. AquaPro 75 autofeeder in use. Made my first catch last week... a 13" snapping turtle with a nightcrawler and bobber (build it and they will come). Breaking ground on the new house this coming Monday. Can't wait to live there. Lifelong dream is finally coming to fruition.

Blaine,

Hope your new house goes along smooth. It's great having the pond in the backyard. Here's a pic of mine before the dry spell when it was full.

Here are some I took this morning that shows it down about a foot. Also shows the new deck that's being in stalled.

Here's one of the deck. Should be done tomorrow.

Do you have pics of your pond?

Tom,

You must be proud of your accomplishment. Your pond looks great. I think that you will like mine as well. Quite different with copius amounts of trees surrounding, including one perfectly placed white oak that has a trunk diameter of at least 4'. Oh yea, one big dock that is custom made by me with six 12" diameter fixed posts. We call it "Lake Big Dock".

I do have some pics from last year as it was filling and plan on taking current pics this weekend. Unfortunately, I am one of those that has yet to learn how to paste photos like yourself. Teach me how and I'll post some current ones this weekend.

Blaine,

The pond has become my link to sanity. Do to health reasons I haven't been able to work since February. It seams to this is going to be permanent.

The first thing with posting pics is they must be someplace on the web. A lot of people use photobucket its a free photo hosting service. With photobucket once your pics are uploaded there will be three links below each pic. There will be one link starts with [IMG]. Copy that complete line to your clipboard then past it into a post here.

If you can't get that to work email me your pics and I will put them on my server and email you back the links that you can copy and past. My email is [email protected]

Here are some pics that go back to when the pond was being dug.

Nice ..ah...babies...i want some babies. We built ours last year, got it about 95% where we want it now (lots of hard work). I walk around and can now see what looks like spawning areas(not sure???). Haven't seen babies yet, going to walk out today and see if I can find any...I'm hoping...it will be very exciting to have my own new babies. Another fellow Hoosier.

Tom,

Check out my pics under my new topic "Livin the Dream - trees to water". Thanks for showing me how to post. What do you think of "LBD"?

I see that you are going to the pond class in Hargersville on the 21st. I wanted to go but already have a prior comittment. I would like to meet someday and share some experiences.
