RES have about 1/3 to 1/5 the reproduction of BG.
They also aren't good for destratification if the water is deeper than 4 or 5 feet (if you want that) and only aerate the surface in close proximity correct?
I'll go with the bottom diffusers as I want good destratifying of the water column, and the electrical cost is much, much, less for the benefit.
