Just thought I would pass along some SMB pics from the pond. Not my best pics but hard to catch them from anything other than 10 ft away in my sons tree house. They are cruising the shore and acting like they might start nesting. I can see them on sunny days sort of hunting in packs.

Well here is a few pics. I hope to get more and better ones.
This one is about 13 inches. Some are smaller and one or two a bit bigger.

What a rush to see them this size. Its great to see the babies grow up!! But boy have my FHM gone missing this year lol

Nice fish Eric! Nice clear water too!

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Love it!

Back when I first was able to stock smallies, I got a few hundred in various size groups, the largest was 5-7", if I recall correctly. The second season, a rat-pack of 8-12 smallies that ranged from 6-8" or 9", would hang around within 10-20' of my rock pier. They'd just be herding small fish.

I used to just toss fatheads and small shiners out and watch the melee. Fast fish.

Eric, I'd hand feed some fatheads to those chubsters you got!

Some FA is a not a bad thing. In fact a little is supposed to be a sign of good water quality.

Only three feet visibilty are you sure? Looks like it should be more than that judging by the picture.

I hand feed fatheads and shiners to my SMB. They will eat right from my hand. They are awesome fish. Doesnt take very long to train them either.

hehehe I have added more FHM. I am goingto expand the pond this summer and add a growing out area of the pond with a screened in area to keep breeder FHM going while allowing the rest to become snacks.

Cecil, it may be a bit better than 3 ft right now, but on average this spring that is whatI have been seeing. And yes I don't mind a bit of FA. I was actually getting a bit concerned that I didn't see any and didn't have a bllom yet this spring. This is the first year without the seasonal creek due to issues with my neighbor.

If I get a chance to catcha few more better pics I will. It wasa blast watching them hunt in packs. I just felt sorry for the FHM. \:\)

I have been tossing some worms and potatoe bugsinto the SMB in the pic. You can see him dart up to get them. I am going to my local creek later this week to get a few more crayfish to drop over to them. I think they all but took most of mine out already. I hate to put the crayfish back in because of the damage they do to the sides of the pond, but my SMB needto eat!!! \:\)
